Dear Friends,

On behalf of the High Atlas Foundation (HAF), we would like to share with you a strategic framework for carbon mitigation and stewardship that we have developed for universities seeking to deepen their commitment to climate action, community development, and meaningful student engagement.

As you may know from previous visits to our programs in Morocco, HAF has spent more than two decades cultivating community-led environmental and social development across the country: planting over five million fruit trees, supporting women’s cooperative building, implementing solar-powered water infrastructure, and engaging tens of thousands of rural families in reforestation and agricultural resilience

University partnerships have long been a cornerstone of HAF’s work, and we are reaching out to a select group of institutions to expand these collaborations further. The materials we have prepared cover the full scope of what a partnership with HAF can offer.

  • Partnership Benefits and Structure – An overview of the mutual value exchange between HAF and university partners, including three partnership entry points ranging from carbon mitigation programs to fully integrated research and curriculum collaborations.
  • Carbon Program – A model through which universities can mitigate the carbon footprint generated by international student and faculty travel, supported by verified tree planting operations across Morocco with documented survival rates and annual impact reporting.

The materials also include an overview of HAF’s community impacts, from women’s empowerment and job creation to water infrastructure and reforestation, as well as answers to frequently asked questions about how partnerships are structured and how the carbon mitigation program works.

We would welcome your thoughts on whether a partnership with HAF might align with your institution’s priorities. If the materials raise questions or prompt interest in exploring next steps, please do not hesitate to reach out directly.

Thank you for your continued interest in HAF’s mission. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Yossef Ben-Meir, PhD
