Mohammed I University and the High Atlas Foundation Celebrate the Graduation of the First Cohort of the Legal Clinic in Oujda

Oujda, Morocco (9 February 2026) -- The High Atlas Foundation (HAF), in partnership with Mohammed I University (MIU) and the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences in Oujda, is pleased to announce the graduation ceremony of the first cohort of students of the Legal Clinic in Oujda, implemented under the project “Promoting Civil Society with University Engagement – Oriental Region.” The ceremony will take place on Monday, February 9th, 2026, at the Faculty of Law in Oujda.

Funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the project aims to strengthen cooperation between universities and civil society organizations (CSOs) while promoting experiential learning and civic engagement among university students. The graduation ceremony marks a key milestone, recognizing the successful completion of the program by student clinicians who have actively contributed to legal awareness, community outreach, and the provision of free legal information to local communities in the Oriental region.

The graduation ceremony will feature remarks from key representatives, including Mr. Yassine Zaghloul, President of Mohammed I University; Mr. Driss Driouchi, Dean of the Faculty of Law; Dr. Yossef Ben-Meir, President of the High Atlas Foundation; Mr. Rabah Aynaou, Director of the Legal Clinic; and Ms. Sanae Benaadim, Program Manager at the High Atlas Foundation. The program will also highlight testimonies from graduating students, reflecting on their learning journey and community impact.

This event celebrates the achievements of the first cohort and underscores the importance of university–civil society collaboration in promoting access to justice, civic responsibility, and inclusive development in Morocco.

Since 2008, the High Atlas Foundation (HAF) has successfully implemented its University-Based Legal Aid Program (LAP) in collaboration with law faculties, students, and civil society organizations. This initiative has also been carried out in partnership with Hassan II University of Mohammedia, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah University in Fez, and Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech. The LAP is dedicated to expanding access to justice for marginalized communities by providing free legal services, raising awareness of legal rights, and supporting individuals in navigating judicial procedures.
