The Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) is a program facilitated by the High Atlas Foundation (HAF), U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Agency for International Development. Together, they are dedicated to empowering communities through sustainable development projects. Their efforts focus on environmental conservation, community empowerment, and creating long-lasting positive change.

I have always been interested in HAF´s projects and their impact, but I never had the chance to see them for myself. That changed during the tree planting day in Achbarou and Akrich villages—an unforgettable experience that left me speechless and inspired. Witnessing the real impact of HAF's work made me want to work even harder to achieve my goals.

One of the most inspiring moments of the day was meeting the women of the Zarbiyat Achbarou Cooperative, who make bracelets, carpets, and even teach others how to make their own carpets. The cooperative was created after HAF led the IMAGINE empowerment workshop for the women of the village, helping them build confidence and take steps toward financial independence. I hope they can add cooking classes in the future, as their homemade food was delicious and heartwarming. Their story is a true example of passion, spirit, and kindness. They embody the warrior spirit, overcoming challenges while striving to be heard and seen by the world. Their journey is a powerful reminder that anything is possible when you believe in it deep down inside.

The day was not just about planting trees; it was about learning and being inspired by innovative solutions. One idea that truly impressed me was the effort to replace plastic plant bags with a more sustainable alternative. A special eco-friendly bag was transported to Casablanca and then delivered to cooperatives. Through materials and skills training HAF is supporting the cooperative to produce these bags for the neighbouring Akrich Nursery. This initiative is challenging but rewarding, proving that sustainable change is achievable with dedication and teamwork. It is still being tested, but if it works, it will be amazing to have a better and more sustainable Morocco.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to YCC, HAF, and partners for giving me this incredible opportunity. It was a unique experience that filled me with warmth, motivation, and a renewed sense of purpose. The passion and effort put into these projects are truly inspiring, and I am grateful to have been part of such an impactful day.
