The recent Tayyib Fellowship conversation brought together 25 participants for an engaging discussion with Lameen Abdul-Malik, recognized as a Nobel Peace Prize laureate (2005), visionary futurist, and global expert in leadership transformation, ethical AI, and sustainable development. Drawing from his multicultural background as half Nigerian and half British, Abdul-Malik reflected on the value of cross-cultural leadership, global cooperation, and service to humanity.

The discussion explored his leadership journey and contributions to international economic development, while also highlighting perspectives on Islamic finance and ethical leadership. A central theme throughout the conversation was the importance of balancing innovation with human-centered development in a world increasingly shaped by technological advancement, economic uncertainty, and environmental challenges. Abdul-Malik emphasized that effective leadership must remain grounded in ethics, long-term vision, and service-oriented values.

Participants were also introduced to key resources that reinforced the importance of evidence-based leadership and realistic approaches to sustainable development and global transitions, including Vaclav Smil’s How the World Really Works and the work of Rebalance Earth. The conversation encouraged participants to think critically about the future while remaining committed to practical, sustainable, and inclusive solutions.
