On April 18, 2022, the HAF Family Literacy team in Beni Mellal-Khenifra went to Tinfidine village, Iseksi commune, Azilal province, in order to conduct a participatory approach workshop for 13 local female beneficiaries.

A group of 15 women from Tinfidine village between the ages of 18 and 60 years old had already benefited from an Imagine workshop a month prior on March 1. The workshop’s impact was clear on the attendees, as they learned how to express their feelings, share their thoughts, and speak more confidently in public.

Community mapping and needs assessment exercises showed that there are 7 priorities: literacy classes, training for understanding a cooperative’s work, a hospital, a mosque, potable water, a kindergarten, and toilet facilities.

The women who attended the workshop are very motivated to start their own business together. They are planning to create a cooperative that will help them to improve their economic situation, most likely centered around their talent for weaving carpets.
