Sometimes, the most meaningful experiences begin with something as simple as planting a tree. My visit to Khemisset with the High Atlas Foundation (HAF) was one of those experiences that may seem simple at first, but that stays with you afterwards. It was a day dedicated to planting trees, but it was also a day about people, teamwork, nature, and the importance of taking action together.

Khemisset, located in the heart of Morocco, is a region strongly connected to agriculture and rural life. Its open landscapes and agricultural fields create a very different atmosphere from the busy rhythm of the city. Being there allowed me to discover another side of Morocco, one where the relationship between people and the land is still very present.

The activity took place in the countryside surrounding Khemisset on the land of a young Moroccan who is passionate about agriculture. His enthusiasm for farming and his connection to the land added a special meaning to the day. It was inspiring to see a young person dedicating himself to agriculture and creating a space where others could come together to contribute to something positive. The trees planted that day were not only part of an environmental initiative, but also became part of his own agricultural journey.

Around 120 people from AXA joined the activity, including directors, managers, and other members of the company. What surprised me most was the level of their involvement. They were not there simply to watch or take part in a symbolic activity. They actually got involved in the work themselves. They planted the trees, watered them, helped prepare the soil, and participated in the different stages of the process.

Seeing directors and managers working side by side with other employees, with their hands in the soil, created a very different atmosphere from what we normally associate with a corporate environment. There was a real sense of teamwork. People were helping each other, learning from one another, and sharing laughs along the way. For me, it was something new and interesting, but also genuinely enjoyable.

Planting a tree may look like a small action, but doing it as part of a group gives it another dimension. Every person contributes to the same goal, and at the end of the day, you can actually see what you have accomplished. There was something satisfying about knowing that the trees we planted would continue to grow long after we had left.

This experience also made me think about the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) within companies. The partnership between AXA and HAF is an example of how businesses can become involved in environmental and community initiatives in a concrete way. What made this activity particularly meaningful was the fact that AXA employees were not simply supporting the initiative from a distance; they were personally present and actively participating.

For me, this is one of the most interesting aspects of CSR. It can create opportunities for employees to step outside their usual professional environment, discover new communities and realities, and contribute directly to a cause. At the same time, partnerships between companies and organizations such as HAF can bring together different experiences and resources around a shared objective.

By the end of the day, I realized that we had planted more than trees. We had also created connections: between people, between a company and a local initiative, and between the professional world and the land. Leaving Khemisset, I felt grateful to have experienced something different, learned from the people around me, and been part of a day that combined environmental action, teamwork, and a genuine sense of purpose.

Sometimes, meaningful experiences begin with something as simple as putting your hands in the soil and planting a tree.
