In the mountain communities struck by the 2023 earthquake, recovery means more than rebuilding homes. It means rebuilding futures. The High Atlas Foundation’s literacy program is bringing classes directly to women’s cooperatives across a number of communities, including in Tameslouht, Talat N’Yacoub, and Aghbar, meeting participants where they are, on their schedules, and at their pace.
Fifty-five women are already learning to read, write, calculate, and communicate with clients, skills tied not to textbooks but to the artisanal work that they do every day in their cooperatives. For many, this is the first time education has felt like it belongs to them.
Your support keeps these classes running and expands access to women still waiting to join.
