Intrepid Travel has amassed more than AUD$600,000 in its recent emergency Morocco Earthquake Appeal to support immediate on-the-ground relief efforts following the devastating earthquake that impacted the country in September 2023.

Through the not-for-profit Intrepid Foundation appeal, Aussies embraced the Intrepid Travel cause to support local people in Morocco’s worst-affected areas.

All funds raised will go directly to two grassroots organisations. The High Atlas Foundation is providing emergency relief in the High Atlas Mountains, transporting essential supplies to people in need.

Meanwhile, Education for All will rebuild its boarding houses that allow girls in the Atlas Mountains to continue their education.

On top of donor fundraising, The Intrepid Foundation has pledged to donate AUD$100,000 and cover the foundation’s administrative costs, ensuring 100 per cent of donations go directly to recovery efforts.

Intrepid Travel’s Morocco-based Managing Director EMEA Zina Bencheikh said: “Morocco has always been close to the hearts of our travellers and our team at Intrepid and this is our chance to give something back.”

Intrepid Travel offers 33 multi-day tours in Morocco with a major office in Marrakech and nearly 80 local team members. Intrepid resumed its Morocco tours on 13 September 2023.
