Across Morocco’s mountains and deserts, tens of thousands of families live in challenging conditions — unreliable clean water supply, limited income sources, declining soil fertility, and few resources for women and youth. Decades of marginalization have limited opportunities and forced many to leave their ancestral villages in search of livelihood.
Rising climate pressures (droughts, erosion, desertification) threaten to further uproot rural life, while the recent Al Haouz earthquake in the High Atlas damaged infrastructure, adding to the region’s vulnerability.
But a potential bright future exists: farmers moving toward profitable fruit tree agriculture, women launching cooperatives, communities uniting across religious lines, and carbon credits that could sustain local economies long-term. If we fail to act now, these communities risk additional outmigration, eroded cultural heritage, and entrenched gender inequality.
But there is hope — fueled by action. The High Atlas Foundation (HAF) has spent over two decades cultivating a grassroots model that can turn vulnerability into opportunity. But scaling this model depends on adding additional resources and building more partnerships right now.
A Morocco where every community thrives — empowered with sustainable livelihoods, equitable opportunities, and unity across cultural lines.
We can make our vision a reality by fostering:
We support communities in designing and leading their own development through training, tree nurseries, sustainable water infrastructure, and community-driven decision-making.
This approach works because it simultaneously addresses livelihoods, environment, and social inclusion. Communities lead the change, and HAF provides technical training, resources, and a catalytic spark for lasting impact.
When communities, governments, and corporate sponsors seek real results, they turn to a leader in linking sustainable agriculture expansions to women’s empowerment, economic growth, cultural preservation and unity, community-centered development, and climate resilience.
For 25 years, we have been Morocco’s grassroots innovator — combining deep local trust with international recognition.

Over 5 million fruit trees have been planted to date, spanning 50+ provinces, positively impacting tens of thousands of farming families.
3,000+ women have been trained in creating business cooperatives, many forming co-ops producing organic oils, textiles, nursery seedlings — often their first source of independent income.

As soon as the Al Haouz earthquake struck in 2023 struck the High Atlas, our local networks mobilized to deliver food, water, and psychosocial aid to remote villages — a testament to our deep grassroots connections, flexibility, and innovative mindset.
Our major partners have included the European Commission, Siemens Gamesa, Ecosia, USAID, and philanthropic families worldwide.

We have earned a UN Consultative Status since 2011, shaping policy dialogues and recognized globally for effective, participatory approaches.
After starting with grassroots funds, HAF now manages multi-million-dollar budgets (raised $6.6 million in 2023), invests in audited transparency, and is expanding revenue via carbon credits.
Our programs scale best when provided upfront capital to build nurseries, train new co-op leaders, install irrigation systems, and bring people together across cultural divides — each of which generates returns for communities.
In our 25th anniversary year, your support accelerates proven successes to an unprecedented level — farms become forest ecosystems, quake-devastated villages rebound stronger, and women’s co-ops become industry and economic drivers.
By fueling the carbon offset verification process, you help unlock a sustainable revenue stream that reduces HAF’s reliance on fluctuating donor funds over time.
Your involvement is more than a transaction. You’re part of a community — invited to see the orchard you helped plant, meet the women’s coop your funds equipped, or engage digitally with the local youth you’re empowering.
supports drip irrigation lines for a women-run nursery capable of yielding 10,000+ fruit and nut saplings over the next year.
covers the training and equipment for an entire women’s cooperative — leading to 25 new entrepreneurs and immediate household income gains.
funds a brand-new orchard and a local clean water system, benefiting hundreds of families and generating measurable carbon credits.
We invite you to join us in building a more sustainable and resilient Morocco. Your support is about more than planting trees or building water pipes. It’s creating generational change and building a better future for Morocco — one orchard, one cooperative, one conversation at a time.

can be transformational— launching multi-province expansions or securing indefinite community-run nurseries across Morocco.
Your donation empowers women, unites and strengthens communities, and connects generations through cultural dialogue and preservation.
