On March 28, 2022, 22 women of the El Kebab Tailoring cooperative participated in a workshop in El Kebab village, Khenifra province, facilitated by the EU Family Literacy team of Beni Mellal-Khenifra.
Five members (four women and one man) created the cooperative in 2021 along with 20 female beneficiaries. At the beginning, a tailor named Houssa brought together 20 women and taught them tailoring, and then they started a co-op and he became the president. Mr. Houssa decided to establish a co-operative to help them secure an income to raise their children and support their families.
Some of the women were new visitors with high motivation to join the cooperative, too. That’s why they took the chance to get to know more about it and what the work is like, eagerly participating in the workshop’s activities.
The community mapping and priorities defining exercises revealed that the cooperative has many needs such as training in marketing, sewing and clothes designing. But, literacy classes are an urgent priority. They mentioned that the path to success goes through the education phase.
Le 28 mars 2022, 22 femmes de la coopérative El Kebab Tailoring ont participé à un atelier d’approche participative dans le village d’El Kebab, province de Khenifra, animé par l’équipe Alphabétisation familiale UE de la HAF de Beni Mellal-Khénifra.
Cinq membres (quatre femmes et un homme) ont créé la coopérative en 2021 ainsi que 20 femmes bénéficiaires. Au début, un tailleur nommé Houssa a réuni 20 femmes et leur a appris la couture, puis ils ont créé une coopérative et il en est devenu le président. M. Houssa a décidé de créer une coopérative pour les aider à se procurer un revenu pour élever leurs enfants et subvenir aux besoins de leur famille.
Certaines des femmes étaient également de nouvelles visiteuses très motivées pour rejoindre la coopérative. C’est pourquoi ils ont saisi l’occasion d’en savoir plus sur ce travail et sur ce qu’il en est, en participant avec enthousiasme aux activités de l’atelier.
La cartographie communautaire et les exercices de définition des priorités ont révélé que la coopérative avait de nombreux besoins tels que la formation en marketing, en couture et en conception de vêtements. Mais les cours d’alphabétisation sont une priorité urgente. Ils ont mentionné que le chemin du succès passe par la phase d’éducation.
